Personal Information About Customers Great Scot International Inc. Gathers We collect two types of information about persons who use our Services: (1) Information that you give us; and (2) information that our Services automatically collect. We explain both below. 

Information That You Give Us: We will not collect any information from you without your consent. You supply this information to us when you purchase goods through our Website, or when you use our Website, create or update your account with our Website, or otherwise when you explicitly submit it to us. We do not collect payment information through our site. All orders are processed through a third party system, Quickbooks (intuit).

We use the information that you provide for such purposes as shipping your packages, responding to your requests, improving our selection, and communicating with you. We may also use that information for future marketing purposes. 

Automatic Information: We receive and store certain data elements whenever you log on to our web site. Like many web sites, we use cookies and obtain browser information such as referring pages and the brand and version of your Internet browser. We also timestamp the date and time of your visit. 

Email Communications: Our newsletter is entirely opt-in. Every newsletter we send has a link to automatically unsubscribe. If you do not want to receive email from us, simply let us know by emailing sales@greatscotintl.com 

How We Use Cookies “Cookies” are small files that reside on your computer, that contain a string of alphanumeric characters that uniquely identify your browser. Cookies simply enable our web site to recognize who you are in order to offer you a personalized greeting or determine your membership in our loyalty program. How greatscotintl.com Shares Information about Customers GSI provides your shipping information to UPS, USPS and/or FedEx (for obvious reasons) and to suppliers that function as third-party drop shippers for us. The information that GSI supplies to drop shippers only relates to the specific order that the shippers will fulfill. We send the information to the drop shippers by secure email, secure http or secure ftp. We securely transmit your credit card data to the appropriate credit card company during order processing. As web technology and the online operating environment are constantly evolving, we cannot accurately predict all future applications of the data that we store about your order history. If you strongly oppose any use of your contact information other than what we need to fulfill your order, please let us know by emailing us at sales@greatscotintl.com. 

In the event GSI buys or sells a business unit, we may transfer customer information as business assets. That transferred information remains subject to this Privacy Policy. 

We may be required to release your personal information to law enforcement, to comply with the law, or protect the rights, property, or safety of scottishspecialtyfoods.com, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with organizations that fight fraud and identity theft. 

Security of Sensitive Information We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. We reveal only a fragment of your credit card number when we confirm an order. We protect the information that we store in our customer database using state-of-the-art security methods. 

Regardless of all of GSI’s precautions, no transmission of data over the Internet is ever completely secure. Third parties that we do not control may intercept or access transmissions or private communications unlawfully. While we strive to protect personal information, we cannot guarantee, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us. 

Children and Privacy We do not knowingly permit users to register for our Services if they are under 18 years old, or under 13 years old with the explicit consent of their parents. If we become aware that a customer is under the age of 18 and has registered without prior verifiable parental consent, we will remove his or her personally identifiable registration information from our files.
